Parks, Frances Harriett Stewart

Frances Harriett Stewart Parks, 90, of San Saba passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Eventide Nursing Home. Visitation was held on Friday, May 25, 2012 at Heritage Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Services were held on Saturday, May 26, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Frances was born on January 20, 1922, to James Washington Stewart and Hattie Augusta Mallett Stewart. On December 24, 1938, she married Daily B. (Cooter) Parks.

She was a member of the Parkview Baptist Church.Frances went with her husband many years when they were in the pecan business. They traveled many places working with pecans and she was with him every step of the way. When she was not working, she loved to be out doors where she could hunt and fish. She was a family oriented person who loved her children and grandchildren.Surviving her are her children, Joyce Sanderson of Buchanan Dam; Betty Townsend and husband, Jimmy Lee, of Burnet; Bonnie Howell and her husband, Jerry, of Comstock; Donald Parks and wife, Sandra, of San Saba; Wanda Wallace of Comstock; and Larry Parks of San Saba; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Nancy Doyle and husband, Don, of Moran.Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Cooter Parks; her parents, grandson, Richard Sanderson; daughter-in-law, Connie Parks; son-in-law, David Wallace; brothers, T.J. Stewart, N.B.

Stewart, Bernard Stewart, Leon (Bill) Stewart; sisters, Dolly Alexander, Mary Anna Petty, Laura Griffey, and Odessa Parks.Officiating the service was Bro. Curtis Chandler. Pallbearers were Thurman Parks, Dewey Hulme, Tad Rhyan, Ronald Sanderson, Johnny Williams, and Buster Lowe. Honorary pallbearers were Sonny Stewart, Jackie Stewart, and Kenneth Elliott.

Interment is at China Creek Cemetery in San Saba County.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the China Creek Cemetery.Services were under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home. Friends may register on line at: www.heritagefuneraltx.com.

 

Patrick, Ella Mae

Funeral services for Ella Mae Hunter Patrick, age 84, of San Saba County, were at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 12, 2009 in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in the Varga Chapel Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 until 6:00 PM.

Ms. Patrick died Wednesday, September 9, 2009 in Brady.

Ella was born on November 11, 1924 in McCulloch County near Winchell to Ruff Cook and Mary (Pearce) Hunter. She married W.C. "Tooter" Patrick on July 1, 1944 in Mercury. Ella was a longtime and active member of the Bowser Community Church.

Ella is survived by three children, Patsy Mays and her husband, Myron of Brady; Steve Patrick and his wife, Shelley of Goldthwaite; Brenda Roberds and her husband, Rila of Bowser Community in San Saba; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Johnson and Dorothy Abernathy.

Patton, Billie Ruth

Billie Ruth Patton was taken by the angels to spend her eternity with the Lord on March 28, 2012, at the age of 101 years and six days in Bedford, Texas. She was born in the Colony community, San Saba County, Texas, to James R. Ragsdale and Katherine (Kate) Matsler Ragsdale on March 22, 1911. She outlived all her brothers and sisters.She married Glenn Patton on June 21, 1933. They had one son, Harold Glenn Patton, deceased, and two daughters.

Billie was a dedicated homemaker and a very accomplished seamstress. Although she and her husband moved to San Antonio in 1957, where she resided until after his death, they continued to maintain their homestead outside of town. Billie had always considered San Saba to be her "real earthly home" and cherished her memories of her life there. It is also the final resting place for all of her family members who have gone on to be with the Lord.
Billie attributed her long life to the grace of God and her dependence on Him and was thankful to Him for her many blessings.

Mrs. Patton is survived by her daughters, granddaughters, grandsons, nineteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Patton, her parents, five brothers, Steve, Roy, Dee, Jim and Quimby Ragsdale; three sisters, Ollie Scoggins, Mary Ragsdale, and Ola Cathey, and a grandson, Markus Garrett.

Services for Billie were held on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Heritage Funeral Home. She will be interred next to her husband in the Harmony Ridge Cemetery, San Saba County.The service for Mrs. Patton was officiated by Brother Johnny Kimberlin.

Powell, Joanne

Joanne Powell, 68, a life long resident of San Antonio, Texas passed away Wednesday November 07, 2007 in her home in San Antonio. She was born June 05, 1939 in Aubrey, Texas to Henry Hoarce Odom and Margie Jane Walters Odom.

On June 23, 1956 Joanne Odom and Melvin Powell were married in San Antonio, Texas where they made their home. She was a member of the Mayfield Park Baptist Church where she retired as the church secretary.

 

She is survived by three daughters: Robbie Anglin and her husband John of Parachute, CO; Cindi Nelson and her husband Jim of San Antonio; and Bettye Powell of San Antonio, TX; eight grandchildren: Robbie Jo Anglin, John Paul Morse, Jessica Alaniz and her husband Josh, Lee Bienek, Brandi Campa and her husband T. J., Brandon Schooley, Nikolas Schooley and Taylor Schooley; five

great-grandchildren: Dimiriti Flowers, Olivia Campa, Sophia Campa, Kaylee Bienek and Jayden Alaniz; one brother, Richard Lee Odom;and six sisters:

Mary Robberts, Ellen Hickman, Shirley Weller, Margie Wright , Kathy Sims and Glenda Bailey.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one daughter, Pam Dunman; one brother, Henry Odom; and two sisters, Claudia Wright and Wanda Wood.

 

Funeral Services were held Sunday, November 11, 2007 at 3:30 at the Mayfield Park Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas.

 

Interment was held Monday, November 12, 2007 at 2:30 at the Richland Springs City Cemetery in Richland Springs, Texas.

 

 

Prewitt, John Henry

John Henry Prewitt, 69, a resident of Hamilton, Texas, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2007 in Hamilton. He was born February 21, 1938 in Llano, Texas, the son of George William Prewitt and Willie Mae Crumley Prewitt. On September 12, 1961, John Henry Prewitt and Frances E. Hunter were married in Llano, Texas, where they made their home and lived most of their lives. John Henry entered the National Guard Services on April 26, 1958 and received an honorable release from active duty on January 15, 1959. Mr. Prewitt attended the Southern Baptist Church.

 

He is survived by his wife, Frances Prewitt of Hamilton, TX; two sons:

Johnny Lee Prewitt of Hamilton, and James Prewitt and his wife, Shelly, of Sherman, TX; two daughters: Rose Prewitt-Dunn and her husband, Wayne, of Hamilton, and Margaret Prewitt of Hamburger, AR; four grandchildren: Cameron Chase Prewitt, Melissa Prewitt, Jessica Prewitt, and Kenneth A. Prewitt; one sister, Cathrine, and her husband, W.J. Rogers, of Tow Valley, TX; and several nieces and nephews.

 

John Henry was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Kathy Ann Prewitt; one brother, Andrew Prewitt and his wife, Barbara; and one sister, Ollie Mae Jordan and her husband, Francis.

 

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at 2:00 pm at the Howell-Doran Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joshua Crutchfield officiating.

Interment will follow at the San Saba City Cemetery.
